Movement Improvisation Class 25.10

Description

The movement improvisation class will start with a teacher-led opening circle and a short introduction of the teacher and participants to create a safe space together. This is followed by a guided warm-up with music. All activities are voluntary. Participants are encouraged to listen to their own body and follow their needs.

The class continues in pairs and small groups with teacher-led exercises with clear instructions and structure to support dancing together and discovering new expressions. This may include experimentation and encouragement of safe ways to experiment and play with the unknown.

The class will usually build towards dancing together and improvisation by the whole group. We encourage listening to the body and following needs, e.g. sometimes by watching others (witnessing) and taking breaks when necessary.

Finally, the teacher facilitates a closing circle where there is an opportunity to reflect and listen to others.

The classes will be led by professionals with a background in dance, theatre, disability, pedagogy and accessibility, all with different artistic-pedagogical backgrounds and a history of working with Kaaos Company. The classes are open to all.

The classes encourage a wide range of individual expression and styles – there is no one way! Each class lasts 2 hours, including toilet and snack breaks and a starting and ending circle.

Dance classes aim to be more accessible and inclusive for all people with and without disabilities. We do not discriminate against people based on their ability, gender identity and expression, cultural or ethnic background, sexual orientation, age, class, nationality, religion, language or appearance. All levels of dance experience and styles are welcome.

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer sign language interpretation during classes. We are working to improve this, please contact us if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Time

It is important that you try to arrive on time so that we can start the lesson together at 14:00. You can arrive at the studio as early as 1:45 p.m. 

If you are late, you are still welcome to join us!

Assistants

Assistants can join the class for free. We encourage you to dance independently and avoid assisting during this time, except when required.

If you prefer to stay in the room without joining, please observe the class, and leave out any electronic devices. If you need to do other tasks, please do them outside in the foyer of the studio.

Price:

Serial Card (6 classes) 27€ , Season Card (16 classes) 60€. You can pay the card in advance to our bank account, and either print the receipt or show a picture of it in the first class.
