The aim of XDF is to challenge, surprise, and push boundaries in dance. The festival offers workshops, discussions, short dance films and performances celebrating inclusive dance practices while aiming for high artistic standards. XDF focuses entirely on equality and diversity by presenting inclusive dance within an international platform.

XDance Festival (XDF) 2022 transferred to 2023
XDance Festival 2023 was from 30th May to 4th June. The festival was in cooperation with Annantalo for the kids XDance and Caisa for the main events of the festival. The whole festival program include 4 workshops, 8 performances, a dance film event (with four films), a panel discussion, interview, conversation, presentation and celebrations.

The festival employed 55 people (43 for the main festival and 12 for the kids event).The people involved in the festival were from seven different countries.

X Dance Festival (XDF) 2021 engaged with 831 people and employed 55. XDF 2021 contextualised mainly through an online format opened up the international agency of the festival enabling engagement with a wider scope of affect and influence within the international inclusive dance field.

The 2021 festival was a in cooperations with: Työpajafestivaali (organised by Zodiak – Uuden tanssin keskus, Tanssin talo and Tanssille ry), Crossover Festival (Eucrea ry), Culture for All, Mad House, Goethe-instituutti, and students of Ammattiopisto Live.

X Dance Festival Aftermovie 2021

This final section features iconic images from each event, with the aim of leaving a lasting impression and arousing curiosity about what the X Dance Festival has in store. The teaser ends with a short closing shot featuring the logos of all the organisations, funders and partners involved in the festival.

X Dance Festival (XDF) 2018

In 2018 DanceAbility Finland celebrated its 10th year by extending the XDF program into 3 days with one day dedicated to children and family. Since 2016 the festival has cooperated with Kulttuuriyhdistys Suomen EUCREA ry Crossover Festival and in 2018 we extended cooperations with Annantalo and Zodiak – Center for New Dance.
