At Kaaos Company, we are always in motion—creating, collaborating, and exploring new ways to engage with dance and disability arts. Whether developing performances, creating networks, or working on community-based projects, we are continuously involved in one or more artistic processes. On this page, you can learn more about the projects we’re currently working on and the creative journeys that keep us moving.
To be seen

Kaaos Company shared the first demo performance (work-in-progress) of our new piece “To Be Seen” at the University of Helsinki on 9 May 2025, as part of the banquet of the Nordic Network on Disability Research (NNDR) seminar. The work has since been demoed twice more, and it is still in development. We hope to premiere the full work at X Dance Festival in 2027.
“To Be Seen” is a powerful and deeply human movement duet in which disabled and neurodivergent artists make visible the meaning of encounter, connection, and being understood. At its core is a duet shaped through Noora Västinen’s and Nilas Lindell’s conversations about how we see ourselves and each other. The work is both personal and societal—an inquiry into what it means to be truly seen in a world where visibility, achievement, and external definitions too often shape a person’s value.
The soundscape is composed and performed live by Sami Kekäläinen and includes a poem by Noora Västinen as well as the resonant sounds of a wheelchair played by Nilas Lindell. Words, movement, and everyday sounds intertwine, transforming into rhythms, tones, and textures—where the private becomes universal and ordinary sound gains new meaning.
Nordic Inclusive Dance Network (NIDN)

The Nordic Inclusive Dance Network (NIDN) is a cross-border collaboration strengthening inclusive dance education and artistry across the Nordic region. Led by Kaaos Company (Finland) in partnership with Spinn (Sweden), Dancelaboratoriet (Norway), and Integrated Dance (Denmark), the network connects organisations that have long pioneered vital work in their own contexts—and brings them into sustained exchange.
By centring disabled artists and leadership, NIDN supports the sharing and development of accessible practices, maps practitioners and venues, and creates space for co-creation. Through regular gatherings, exchanges, and residencies, we build shared resources, learn from one another’s expertise, and address common challenges together.
NIDN exists to help an inclusive dance field thrive across borders—one that reflects the full diversity of our Nordic societies, strengthens artistic quality, and creates a lasting cultural legacy for future generations.

Nature in motion
Nature in Motion is a collaborative project between MAD Kolektiv and Kaaos Company, bringing together dancers with and without disabilities to explore how we build relationships with nature through movement. Together, we research what access exists—and what barriers remain—when it comes to engaging with nearby natural environments such as parks, forests, lakes, and trails.
The project focuses on sharing knowledge about the accessibility of both urban spaces and surrounding nature areas, while reflecting on how inclusive dance can bridge the gap between people and the outdoors.
The core outcomes of the project are two short documentaries, each produced by one of the partner organizations. These films explore key questions: How accessible is nature? What barriers must be removed? And how can we design outdoor activities that are truly inclusive?
At its heart, Nature in Motion highlights the possibilities of connecting with nature close to cities and emphasizes the importance of accessibility in both the arts and outdoor environments. By doing so, the project promotes well-being, inclusion, and a deeper understanding of the diverse ways people experience and move through the world.
As part of this initiative, we’ve created a series of guided movement scores for everyone to try. You can access the video scores here (external link to Youtube) and the audio scores here (external link). Come and join us in our nature in motion exploration!
This project is supported by the European Union.
