“The Shape of Time” on syntynyt vammaisen sotaveteraanin ja kahden lapsen äidin pitkästä ystävyydestä. Molemmat palaavat tanssin maailmaan oltuaan poissa muutaman vuoden ajan hoitamaan elämän muita vaatimuksia. Se seuraa luottamuksen ja ystävyyden matkaa sekä kahden ihmisen yhteistyötä, jotka käyttävät tanssia rohkaistakseen meitä kaikkia hyväksymään ja rakastamaan toisiamme.

Tässä esityksessä äiti-tanssijan roolin esittää toinen taiteilija, mikä kunnioittaa alkuperäistä yhteistyötä ja tunnustaa samalla todellisuuden, jonka monet äidit kohtaavat – vaikeudet matkustaa pitkiä matkoja ja olla erossa lapsistaan.

A skull. It felt cute. 1 looked like a princess. A bit awkward. When we danced, I braided your hair. This turned into a black wolf character. Zombie, an evil dance. I could write a new story. When the fish watch. I liked everything. I am tired. Embarrassing. A cosy sleeping nest. The dance performance ”2 x 2” by the Ihanat Company is built around two duets, each inspired by encountering the other dancer through movement. In the choreographic process, the experience of dancing together has been explored through a variation of mirror exercises, touch, and working with various fabric materials. The long-term process has given rise to two unique, improvisation-based duets that, in ”2 × 2, are layered side by side, intertwined, and overlapping. The choreography takes shape anew, in part, with each performance event.
